Troy Heads South for the USF Invitational

TROY, Alabama – Troy travels down to Tampa, Florida for its last weekend of nonconference play. Troy will take on Furman, Binghamton, South Carolina, Incarnate Word, and Penn this weekend.
Troy's 12-5 start to the 2019 season is its second-best start under head coach Beth Mullins. In 2016, the Trojans started off 12-4 after dominating the Trojan Warrior tournament. Alabama, Auburn, Missouri, and North Dakota State are the only teams to defeat the Trojans this season.
Leanna Johnson comes into the weekend leading the nation is strikeouts with 77. Johnson sat down the 33 batters last weekend alone to boost her to the top of national rankings.
Bailey Taylor heads into the weekend leading the Sun Belt Conference in RBIs. Taylor has batted in 21 runs this season after recording a grand slam and a pair of three-run home runs. Talia Truitt has 20 hits so far this season putting her second in Sun Belt Conference rankings.

- Furman enters the weekend 2-7 with its only wins coming to Georgetown and Gardner-Webb. Emily DeMonte and Mackense Greico have split the majority of the time in the circle. DeMonte has seen action in 32 innings and sits at a 8.44 ERA while Greico has a 11.39 ERA in 19.2 innings of work. Troy leads the series 4-0.
- Binghamton checks in at 3-1 on the season with Hannah Lyons leading the offensive efforts. Lyons is batting a .462 with two RBIs on the season. Just being her is Makayla Alvarez who is batting a .455 with six RBIs. Troy leads the series 1-0 after Troy defeated the Bearcats 1-0 in Orlando last season.
- South Carolina comes into the weekend 12-2 with its only losses coming to Baylor and North Carolina. Jana Johns and Cayla Drotar dominate the offensive efforts with the two accounting for 33 of the Gamecocks 94 RBIs this season. South Carolina leads the series 2-0 over Troy.
- Incarnate Word heads into the weekend winless, 0-10. Brett Coleman has dominated time in the circle with 21.1 innings of work. Coleman currently has a 6.56 ERA. This will be Troy's first meeting with the Cardinals.
- This weekend's action will Penn's first games of the 2019 campaign. The series between Troy and Penn is split 1-1. The last time the two squared off was in 2014 when the Trojans downed the Quakers 6-4.
