Notes: Women's Basketball Travels to No. 10/8 Mississippi State on Monday

TROY, Ala. – Troy women's basketball has a quick turnaround between games following their victory over Jacksonville State on Saturday. The Trojans will be back in action Monday night as they travel to Mississippi State to take on the nationally ranked Bulldogs at 7 p.m. inside Humphrey Coliseum.

Troy will be taking on their first ranked opponent since 2017-18 when they traveled to Knoxville to take on the No.11/13 ranked Tennessee Volunteers. This will be just the second time that Troy and Mississippi State have meet when the Bulldogs have been ranked nationally. They last time it happened was back in 2016-17 when MSU was ranked seventh in both polls.

Mississippi State enters the contest with wins over Southern Miss, Tennessee Martin and Murray State. In those three games MSU is outscoring its opponents by 150 points with a scoring margin of +50.0. In their most recent game against Murray State, MSU defeated the Racers 124-43. They are being led offensively by Jessika Carter who is averaging a double-double at 18.7 points per game and 11.7 rebounds per game.
Trojan Storylines
• Troy is 3-0 entering the game against Mississippi State. This is first time in coach Rigby's career that Troy has started a season 3-0 and just the third time in program history. Troy will be looking to start the season 4-0 fir the first time in the Division 1 era
• Troy begins a three-game road trip that will send the Trojans to Mississippi State on Monday, followed by a trip to Duke the following Sunday and Bethune-Cookman the next Sunday
• Troy has had at least five players reach double-digit points in all three games this season
• The streak continued for consecutive games with a new leading scoring. Alexus Dye became the third Trojan this season to led the team in scoring with her career-high 21 points

Amber Rivers is one of three Trojans on the current roster to have played in the previous game vs Mississippi State. As a freshman Rivers scored 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting with two rebounds. In the early part of the season Rivers, not a 100 percent, has averaged 6.5 points per game and two rebounds.
