TROY, Ala. – Troy women's basketball picked up their third victory on the young season with a 94-64 victory over Jacksonville State on Saturday. With their 3-0 start to the season, this Troy squad becomes the first group since 2005-06 to start a season 3-0.
The Trojans got out to a fast start Saturday afternoon, clicking on all cylinders. Troy jumped on the Jacksonville State early, scoring eight of the game's first 10-points. After building an early lead Troy refused to let up, shutting down the Gamecocks for just over four minutes and using a 14-0 run midway through the first to grab a 22-4 lead.
The second-quarter started out just like the first, with Troy scoring the first six points and taking a 30-13 advantage. Jacksonville State began to settle in after falling behind by 17 as the two teams began to trade points, each scoring 12 of the next 24 points. The back-and-forth action would remain for the rest of the half but Troy would go into the locker room with a 42-27 advantage.
Coming out of the break neither Troy or Jacksonville State was able to go on a long run as the two programs saw a repeat of the second frame. After the Gamecocks outscored the Trojans 26-22 in the third, Troy found another gear in the fourth. The Trojans opened the final frame on a 16-4 run lead by Jasmine Robinson who had 12 of the 16 including a pair of and-1 plays. The strong fourth quarter continued for Troy as they outscored JSU 26-11 and walked away with a 94-64 victory.

Troy: 3-0
Jacksonville State: 2-2

On Troy coming out of the gates hot
"It was interesting to see that. I was a little concerned about our team if we did get up on someone early to see if they would sit back and take things for granted. But they didn't. They did a good job holding onto the lead and in fact I thought their energy improved throughout the game so I was proud of them for that.
Trojan Notables
• Dye and LeBlanc posted the first double-doubles for Troy since Japonica James' back on March 14, 2019
