MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Troy men's cross country team finished 10th while the women finished 14th in the UAB Blazer Classic on Friday morning.
Â
The men tallied 278 points for a 10th-place finish. Bradley Dixon led the men for the fifth consecutive race with a 38th-place finish in 25:21.1, a personal best 8k time. Silas Franklin and Daniel Glick rounded out Troy's top-three finishers placing 52nd and 59th, respectively.
Â
"Our men ran very well," head coach Elliot Blount said. "We had all season and personal bests again. The reality is if we don't best this effort in two weeks, we won't be competitive at the conference meet, but with that said, we did everything we had to do this meet for us to know we can."
Â
For the women, Macki Walsh paced the Trojans placing 35th in 21:43.1. Tanner Guest was Troy's second-highest finisher coming in with a 70th-place finish out of 215 runners. Overall, the women finished 14th tallying 357 points.
Â
"Macki, Tanner and Caroline led the way with solid races," Blount said. "We had some tactical errors and a few runners who left a little too much on the course. We have a shot at placing the highest in school history in the conference championships since joining the Sun Belt, which is very exciting. However, we will have to be willing to take some calculated risks in that race to do so."
Â
Next Time Out
The Trojans will travel to Hampton, Georgia to compete in the Sun Belt Championships on Saturday, November 2.
