TROY, Alabama – After dropping its first Sun Belt Conference game of the season on Saturday, the Troy women's basketball rebounded with a 78-56 win over ULM Thursday in Trojan Arena.
Kayla Robinson led the charge from start to finish scoring the team's first five points and knocked down 7-of-14 shots to tie ULM's Arsula Clark with a game-high 20 points on the night. For Robinson, it was her eighth career game with 20 or more points.
The Trojans (15-3, 6-1 SBC) got off to a hot start as they jumped out to a 22-9 lead in the first quarter fueled by four of the eight 3-pointers that the squad would make on the night.
Amber Rivers and Japoinca James also reached double digits with 10 points each. Sky'Lynn Holmes dominated the glass hauling in a game-best 16 rebounds, the fifth time this season she has collected 15 or more boards.
Troy shot 80 percent from the free throw line knocking down 12-of-15 attempts, the team's highest percentage with 10 or more attempts this season. The Trojans also capitalized on turnovers as ULM (7-10, 1-5) was forced into 20 miscues that led to 24 Troy points.
For the seventh time this season and third consecutive game, 12 Trojans scored the game. Troy led for all but the first 16 scoreless seconds of the game.
QUOTABLE
"It was a nice win bouncing back from a disappointing loss at Georgia State," Troy head coach Chanda Rigby said. "ULM is a tough team that brought a lot of energy, but I thought we did a nice job battling throughout and coming away with a win at home."
