TROY, Alabama – Troy welcomes Louisiana to the Troy Soccer Complex on Friday at 7 p.m. to open Sun Belt Conference play. The Trojans then step out of league play for the final time as the team travels to Florence, Ala., to take on North Alabama on Sunday at 2 p.m.
The Trojans (1-6-1) are winless in their last seven matches, but have been unfortunate in two of the last three outings. Troy had goals wiped off the board on offside calls against Jacksonville State (game ended 0-0) and Tennessee Tech (TTU won 2-1 in overtime).
For the second straight year, Troy has made set pieces a point of emphasis and the numbers prove it. The Trojans lead the Sun Belt with 37 corners – 4.62 per game – and have scored four of six goals this season off of or directly following a set piece.
