Trio of Trojans Highlight Troy’s All-Sun Belt Selections

TROY, Alabama – Troy baseball's Joey Denison was named the Sun Belt Player of the Year, Rigsby Mosley was tabbed Freshman of the Year and Drew Frederic was selected to the All-Sun Belt First Team, the league office announced Monday.
Denison, who was also named to the All-Sun Belt First Team, is the second Trojan to be named Player of the Year since the move to the Sun Belt in 2006 – Adam Bryant took home the honors in 2011. Meanwhile, Mosley – a second-team outfielder – is Troy's first Freshman of the Year since reliever Marc Skinner won it in 2014.
A native of Troy, Denison led the league in nearly every batting statistic in the regular season including batting average (.390), runs batted in (70), doubles (22) and total bases (131). He recorded 20 multi-RBI games this year and capped off the impressive campaign with a 13-game hitting streak.
Mosley, a redshirt freshman from Maitland, Fla., was the top hitting freshman in the conference – batting at a .339 clip with 11 doubles, five triples, five homers and 44 RBIs.
Joining Denison on the first team was third baseman Drew Frederic – the conference's stolen base leader with 28. Frederic hit .329 at the plate and drove in a team second-best 49 runs in 2018.
Other All-Sun Belt selections include second-team starting pitcher Andrew Crane and second-team shortstop Matt Sanders. Crane posted the third-lowest ERA in the conference with a 2.98 and Sanders leads the country with a school-record 78 runs scored.
Troy's five selections are tied for the most since six were selected in 2006 – its inaugural season in the league. Those five will lead the third-seeded Trojans into the Sun Belt Conference Tournament this week, starting with a matchup against Texas State Wednesday at 4 p.m. in Lafayette, La.
