TROY, Ala. –  Troy indoor track and field will look to continue its recent success as it hits the road back to Birmingham for the KMS Invitational at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
Â
The Trojans brought home an eighth-place finish in their last showing at the Emory Invite last weekend. Several individuals put together impressive performances to lead the team's strong finish. Â
Â
Indiya Summerville continued breaking her own school records in the shot put for the third meet in a row. Alexis Garrett won the 60-meter hurdles and was one of four Trojans to finish in the top 8 in the event.
Â
Garrett also advanced to the 60-meter dash finals, where she and teammate Camille Franks finished sixth and fifth, respectively. Franks brought home points in the long jump, as well, after a 5.14-meter leap earned her a fourth-place finish.
Â
Troy will look for more success from these and others in Sunday's meet as they push towards the Sun Belt Indoor Championships just three weeks away.
Â
Notable
• Indiya Summerville continues to rewrite Troy's indoor record books, breaking her own record in the shot put for a third consecutive meet. Michael Alvernaz broke his own school record in the weight throw in each of the first two meets of the season.
Â
• Hakim Montgomery has won four consecutive 60-meter dash finals that he has competed in, dating back to 2016. He also had the fastest time in the qualifying rounds of all three competitions last season.
Â
• All but one of Troy's seven indoor meets will be held at the Birmingham CrossPlex – including the Sun Belt Indoor Championships in February. The lone trip away from Birmingham will come next weekend as the Trojans head to the Camel City Invitational in Winston-Salem.
Â
• The December 1 meet marked the earliest start in Troy's track and field history.
Â
• Five returning Trojans have NCAA postseason experience entering this year. Junior Hakim Montgomery has earned a trip in each of his first two seasons.
