RUSTON, Louisiana – Troy's Kiersten Edlund scored in the 87th minute to salvage a 1-1 draw against Louisiana Tech on Friday at the Lady Techsters Soccer Complex.
As both team jockeyed for control of the game in the first half, the Lady Techsters (4-1-2) broke through on a headed goal by Jenna Dages off a cross from Monica Gebler from the right wing. The Trojans were held in check offensively for the first 45 minutes managing just one shot.
Troy (2-4-2) looked better in the second half producing eight shots including Edlund's equalizer. After the Trojans earned a free kick on the left flank 20 yards from goal, Edlund stepped up and scalded a low, driven shot towards goal that snuck past the keeper and inside the near post for her first goal of the season, second of her career.
Neither team could break through in overtime resulting in the second tie of the season for each team.

Troy is scheduled to travel to Tallahassee to take on No. 13 Florida State on Tuesday, but severe weather connected to Hurricane Irma may alter game plans. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. (CT), but check TroyTrojans.com for updates or changes.
NOTEWORTHY
• Troy used three goalkeepers in the game – Haleigh Mercer, Katrine Jacobsen and Mikki Lewis – with all seeing roughly 30 minutes of action in regular time. Lewis finished out the game playing both overtime periods. It is the third time this season the Trojans have used multiple goalkeepers in a game.
• Edlund's goal was the first for Troy scored directly from a free kick since Kirsten Rendall scored from 42 yards away when her service went untouched into the net against South Alabama in 2015.
