Troy Men Notch Second Place Finish In Oxford

OXFORD, Alabama – With the postseason fast approaching, the Troy men's cross country team took home a second place finish in the JSU Foothills Invitational while the women came in seventh place.
Behind him were a slew of Trojans as Troy had five runners finish in the top-11. Brackin Stewart was a shade behind Dixon with a time of 25:34.80 while Sawyer Sprung, Brendon Garriques and Daniel Glick finished in eighth, ninth and 11th, respectively.
On the women's end, only five runners participated in the meet with Claire Vaughn taking the top-spot for Troy with a time of 20:04.40 for 32nd place. Following her was Krystin Guirey in 41st at 20:20.60.

"We were the most aggressive we've been this year as far as pace goes and we learned some things," head coach Elliott Blount said. "All in all, it was a great learning experience for this group. I was happy with the way the guys not in the top-six compete. The entire group looked solid all things considered.
"We sat out five girls who have been in our top-five in previous races. We have to get healthy in some cases and stay healthy. There were some surprise performances and that was reassuring. It's time to sharpen up over the next four weeks so that we're ready for the Sun Belt Championships."
The men were in a tight battle with Morehead State but fell just behind with a total time of 2:08:39 with an average time of 25:43.82 average in the 8,000 meter run. Bradley Dixon was the top-finisher on the afternoon with a fifth place finish and time of 25:33.10.Behind him were a slew of Trojans as Troy had five runners finish in the top-11.
