Troy Cross Country Gears Up for Sun Belt Championships

TROY, Ala. – Troy cross country is set to compete in the Sun Belt Conference Championships on Friday, Oct. 31, at the Graham Creek Nature Preserve in Foley, Ala.
 
"The teams are very excited to get back to Foley and race the conference championships," head coach Brian Cunningham said. "This is a date we've had circled on our calendars since the Sun Belt Track & Field Championships ended in May. As a group, we are as fit and healthy as we have been all season, and I'm looking forward to seeing the teams compete hard and leave it all on the course."
 
The Trojans will open the meet with the women's 5K at 8:30 a.m., followed by the men's 8K at 9:15 a.m.

In their final meet of the regular season, the Trojans wrapped up competition at the Crimson Classic with the men's team placing 19th overall with 485 points and the women's team finishing 22nd with 625 points.
 
For the men, Lane Watson led the way, clocking 25:55.40 for 92nd place. Keith Warner followed in 98th (26:00.60), and Caden Blackman finished 122nd (26:21.20). Rounding out the scoring five were Patterson Graham (139th, 26:50.90) and Gavan Baxley (151st, 27:06.80).
 
On the women's side, Makenna Calbert paced Troy with a time of 22:30.90 for 110th place, followed by Arianna Elder in 136th (23:03.80). Abigail Carr (161st, 24:28.70), Aisley McMeen (164th, 24:37.20) and Giulianna Rivero (183rd, 26:50.10) rounded out the team's scoring effort.
