Men’s Golf Heads to Shoal Creek Intercollegiate

TROY, Alabama – The Troy men's golf team returns to the links on Monday and Tuesday as they head to Birmingham for the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate hosted by UAB at the Shoal Creek Country Club.

Troy will once again face a strong field after opening the season at the Carpet Capital Collegiate against 10 teams ranked in the top 50 in the final Golfstat rankings. The field at Shoal Creek features five teams that were ranked in the top 50 and 10 teams in the top 100 at the end of last season.

Junior Calum Masters led the young Trojan squad at the Carpet Capital as he tied for 54^th place with a 9-over 225. Masters was the lone Trojan in first-year head coach Bart Barnes' lineup who had played a competitive round for the Trojans as Troy rolled out three freshmen and a transfer.

Barnes will turn to the same group this week as Dean Martin (75.67), Connor Futrell (76.67), Ike Alexander (77.33) and Mac Murphy (82.33) will compete for the Trojans. Teams will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday.

Troy will play Monday's opening two rounds with Chattanooga and South Alabama beginning at 8:30 a.m. The shotgun start will put the Trojans on holes 13 through 17 to open the day.
