Outdoor Completes Competition at War Eagle Invite

AUBURN, Alabama – Troy outdoor track and field was impressive once again Friday and Saturday at the War Eagle Invitational.

The Trojans are building more and more momentum as they head toward the Sun Belt Championships in three weeks.

MALE PERFORMER OF THE MEET
Myles Charley, who jumped out to a season-best 7.57 meters in the long jump, sealed the victory for the Trojans. This was an improvement on his previous Sun Belt-leading jump and ranks 23rd in the NCAA D-I East Qualifying Region.

There were a number of personal records and season bests on the men's side this weekend. Sawyer Sprung competed well in the invitational 5000-meter run and dropped an impressive 12 seconds off of his previous personal best to finish in 14:58.55. Garrison Floyd and Jason Iles both achieved personal records in the 110-meter hurdles, running 14.25 and 14.78 respectively.

Jovan Brown ran a strong race in the 400-meter hurdles, crossing the line at 53.01 for a season best. John Webb rose up to meet the challenge of his competition in the 800-meter run, fighting his way to a 1:51.53 finish and a personal record. Chance Roe improved his 1500-meter time this weekend as well, finishing in 4:04.49.

Titus Sizemore cleared a height of 2.07 meters to set a personal record in the high jump. Â Zach Douglas captured another victory for the Trojans, with the shot put sailing out to a conference-leading 18.13 meters. The men's 4x100m relay also had a season best performance of 40.48.

FEMALE PERFORMER OF THE MEET
Alexis Garrett, a freshman for the Trojans, ran a personal record in the 100-meter hurdles finishing in a time of 14.17 – the ninth best time in the league this season.

Joining Garrett in the 100-meter hurdles were teammates Sydney Henderson (14.59), Aleeah Stigarll (14.64) and Riley Schwietz (14.75) – all of whom achieved personal bests in the event. Gabrielle Henderson bested her previous personal record in the 100-meter dash, leaning through the line at 12.06. Erika Kulp followed up her strong race last weekend with an even better showing, running 2:18.75 in the 800-meter run.Â

WHAT'S UP NEXT?
The Trojans will head to the prestigious Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa., next weekend for their final tune-ups before the conference championships.
