Troy Outdoor Finishes Third at Bill Carson Invitational, Competes at Tiger Classic
4/10/2016 10:27:00 AM | Track & Field
GREENVILLE, North Carolina  – The Troy outdoor track and field team came in third place at the Bill Carson Invite at East Carolina on Saturday, while the Trojans competed well but had new faces in new events at the Tiger Classic in Auburn, Ala.
Â
"The team performed very well at ECU," director Marc Davis said. "I was looking for kids to step up in pressure situations and score points for the team. More than that, I was looking to have another opportunity to get closer as a team. Something that is sometimes lost in track and field. I feel like we accomplished both goals."
Â
Combined, the Troy men and women earned points in 44 different occasions. The men totaled for 121.50 and the women finished with 104.50.
Â
The men 4x100 relay earned 10 points and earned a first place finish with a 40.81 timed finish. The 4x400-meter relay earned 10 points as well with a first place finish.
Â
Myles Charley picked up 10 points for the Trojans with a 7.66-meter long jump, a new personal best. He finished with 15 total points, picking up five with the triple jump.
Â
Zach Douglas topped off the meet with 16 points. He had 10 points and a first place finished in the shot put competition with an 18.22-meter toss, his best of the season and new school record. He added six with a third place finish in the discus throw.
Â
On the women's side, Sydney Wright finished first in the 100-meter dash with an 11.72 time and 10 points for the Trojans. The 4x400-meter relay picked up 10 points and finished first with a 3:57.52 time.
Â
Corina Cox earned 10 points herself with a 51.45-meter throw in the discus competition. Jaevyn Wortham contributed with eight points in the discus throw with a 50.94-meter throw.
