Troy Men’s Tennis Splits in Statesboro

STATESBORO, Georgia – The Troy men's tennis team played a pair of matches at the Wallis Tennis Center on Saturday, falling to Sun Belt foe Georgia Southern, 4-1, before rebounding to beat Florida Gulf Coast, 4-2.
Troy (5-10, 1-1) saw its streak of eight straight wins against Sun Belt opponents come to an end as Georgia Southern (9-3, 1-0) picked up a win that was closer than the 4-1 score indicated. Two of the Eagles' wins came in third sets while the two matches remaining were being won by Trojans in the third set.
Troy, however, did rebound well with a 4-1 win over a quality Florida Gulf Coast (8-4) team, snapping the Eagles' three-match winning streak.
The Trojans had a strong showing in singles after losing the doubles point. Daniel Bustamante, Giovani Samaha, Mustapha Belcora and Andy Lau all picked up singles wins for the Trojans, the latter three all doing so in straight sets.

Troy will now play its fourth match in three days on Sunday when it travels to Rock Hill, S.C., to take on Winthrop.
