Troy Track and Field Wraps up Competition at War Eagle Invitational

AUBURN, Alabama – The Troy track and field team wrapped up the final day of competition on Saturday, with a first place finish and several personal records.

Freshman Dylan Ogburn won the men's 1500-meter run at the Hutsell-Rosen track, clocking in with a time of 4:10.25, just shy of a new personal record.

In the 3000-meter steeplechase, Julia Ostendorf placed runner-up for Troy's women with a time of 11:06.26. Sean Kent took home a third place finish for the men's team in the event, completing the race with a time of 10:11.17.

Sydney Wright took part in three events on Saturday, representing the Trojans in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, and the 4x100-meter relay. Wright placed fourth in the 100-meter final with a new personal record time of 11.85 seconds, and also set a new record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.14 seconds for another fourth place finish.

Niata Alexander also raced in the 200-meter dash, placing eighth with a time of 24.56 seconds. Alexander ran in women's 4x400-meter relay along with McMillan, Naomi Sheppard and Dallas Worthy, clocking in at 3:52.55 for a second place finish.

The women's 4x100-meter relay team of Cameia Alexander, Alexus Cobbs, Paige McMillan and Wright placed fifth with a time of 46.81 seconds.

In the Trojan's field events, Alexus Cobbs led the women's team taking home a second place finish in the women's long jump with a distance of 5.71-meters.

Jaevyn Wortham competed in women's discus and shot put on Saturday. The freshman placed third in discus with a personal record breaking throw of 47.22-meters, as well as fourth place in shot put with a 12.39-meter toss.

B.J. Kennedy competed for the men's team in the long jump, leaping a distance of 6.97-meters for a fourth place finish.

The Trojans will take on two meets next week, with half of the team representing Troy at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Penn., while other members of the team will compete at the Golden Eagle Invitational in Hattiesburg, Miss.
