Troy Women’s Tennis Wins Fourth Straight

TROY, Alabama – The Troy women's tennis team won its fourth straight match with a 4-3 win over UTSA at home on Saturday at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
All four of Troy's wins have come at home and they will now hit the road for a neutral court match up against Sun Belt opponent ULM on Sunday in Ft. Walton Beach.
Troy (6-4) won the doubles point with wins on courts No. 1 and No. 2. Jiayuan Xue and Linnea Skymberg cruised at No. 2, 6-1, while Trang Huynh and Anja Cosovic won at No. 1, 6-4. Huynh and Cosovic are now 8-1 on the season.
The Trojans quickly took a 3-0 lead as Xue won over Nicole Karaklis at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-1, and Cosovic won at No. 3 over Alena Shichkova, 6-0, 6-4.
UTSA (6-5) got its first points with a win at No. 5, but Huynh clinched the match for Troy with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Jacobea Junger at No. 1 singles. UTSA won at No. 2 and No. 6, respectively, to close the match.
Troy now travels to the Ft. Walton Beach Tennis Center to take on ULM at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Troy will be looking to go 2-0 in Sun Belt play.
