No. 62 Troy Men’s Tennis Wins Third Straight

ATLANTA – The 62nd-ranked Troy men's tennis went on the road and defeated Emory, the fifth-ranked NCAA Division III team, 6-3, at the Woodruff PE Center on Saturday. The win was the third straight for Troy.
Troy (13-5) has now won 12 of 14 matches with the lone losses being 4-3 decisions against No. 19 Ole Miss and No. 20 Tennessee.
Playing by the home team's Division III scoring format, the Trojans grabbed a 2-1 lead in the match after doubles play. Gabriel Dias and Hassan Ndayishimye won their sixth straight match together, winning 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. Andy Lau and Pablo Moreno also picked up a win, 8-4, at No. 2 doubles. Emory (4-2) won at No. 3 doubles.
Ndayishimye then put Troy up 3-1 as he cruised at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1, over Alex Ruderman, the fourth-ranked player in Division III. The Troy sophomore is now 13-4 in singles play this season.
After Emory won at No. 3 singles, Gabriel Dias gave Troy a 4-2 lead with a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles over Eric Halpern, Division III's 13th ranked player.
Pablo Moreno then clinched the match for Troy with a 7-6 (4), 7-5 win at No. 4 singles. The Eagles won at No. 6 and Giovani Samaha won at No. 5 for Troy to make the final 6-3 score. Complete results are below.
The Trojans return to the court on Friday when they travel to Montgomery, Ala., for matches against Alabama State and Kennesaw State.
