          Â
Alabama State (1-5) hasn't played in 10 days since a Dec. 5 home loss to Savannah State. The defending SWAC Champions are led by the SWAC's Preseason Player of the Year and Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. Britney Wright, last season's SWAC Tournament MVP, is averaging 12.0 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.Â
Â
Jasmine Peeples, last year's SWAC Defensive Player of the Year, is again the favorite for that award and is averaging 7.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game.
          Â
Troy is 11-15 all-time against Alabama State, including wins in the last four meetings of the series. Alabama State won the first eight meetings in the series, all in the 1970s. Since then, Troy is 11-7 against ASU, including a 9-5 mark since moving up to Division I in 1993-94.
