Â
Thus far this season, Troy (2-1) has sandwiched a very close road loss at Samford between two big home wins over non-Division I members. The Trojans most recently won huge over Fort Valley State, 118-72, at Trojan Arena last Sunday.
          Â
In that game, Troy had seven score in double figures, including a team-high 15 points from both of its true freshman, Amahni Upshaw and La'Tia Fils-Aime'. Upshaw recorded the Trojans' first double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds. It was the first double-double by a Troy freshman since Ashley Beverly Kelley had one at Middle Tennessee in 2012-13.
          Â
Beverly Kelley, now a senior and Mid-Major All-American, enters as the Sun Belt's leading scorer at 23.3 points per game, ranking 10th in the NCAA. She had a season-low 13 points against Fort Valley State, but flirted with a triple-double with nine assists (zero turnovers) and seven rebounds. Beverly Kelley also ranks second in the Sun Belt in steals (3.7/g) and assists (5.0/g).
          Â
As a team, Troy leads the Sun Belt in scoring (96.7/g), FG percentage (50.5), 3-pointers (8.3/g), 3-point percentage (35.7), assists (21.7/g), assist-turnover ratio (1.2), steals (15.7/g) and turnover margin (+9.7). Under Chanda Rigby, Troy has led the Sun Belt in scoring in each of the last three seasons.
          Â
Belmont (4-1) is a perfect 3-0 at the Curb Event Center this season. The Bruins lone loss of the season came on the road at nationally-ranked Ohio State.
Â
The Bruins most recently traveled to Huntsville, Ala., on Tuesday and blew out Alabama A&M, 78-28. After leading 19-14 after the first quarter, Belmont held the Bulldogs to just 14 points in the remaining three quarters.
Â
Belmont dominated on the glass, outrebounding Alabama A&M, 41-15. On the season the Bruins are outrebounding their opponents by nearly 17.0 boards per game. Belmont has outrebounded all but one opponent this season, and that was UAB.
Â
The Bruins are picked to finish third in the OVC this season after finishing fourth last year. Third-year head coach Cameron Newbauer, a former assistant at Louisville and Georgia, led Belmont to the OVC Championship game and the WNIT in his first season.Â
Â
Belmont is 10-4 all-time against Troy with most of the meetings coming when both were Atlantic Sun members. The last meeting came in 2004-05, Troy's final season in the A-Sun.
