Troy Tennis Concludes Play at Mercer Gridiron Classic

 MACON, Georgia – The Troy men's and women's tennis teams wrapped up play at the Mercer Gridiron Classic on Sunday, playing semifinals and finals, as well as consolation matches.

The Troy women had three singles players in Sunday's semifinals. Luisa Ferrauti was the lone Trojan to win her semifinal, defeating Mercer's Christie Cesarini in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. Ferrauti, however, would fall to Liza Klyachkin of Mercer in the finals, 6-3, 6-1.

In doubles play for the Troy women, Nancy Karaky and Sanae Ohta won their semifinal, beating Georgia State's Linn Timmermann and Niri Rasolomalala, 7-5. However, the Troy pair fell in the final to another team from Georgia State, Kristin Rhese and Chiara Volejnicek, 7-5.

For the Troy men, Andy Lau was the lone Trojan to play in a semifinal, and he defeated UNCW's Andres Torres, 7-6 (4), 6-2. However, Lau faced another Seahawk in the final and fell to Javier Restrepo, 6-2, 6-1.

In consolation play for the Troy men, four of the six Trojans in action won their match. For the Troy women, Jiayuan Xue won a consolation match. Complete results from all of Troy's matches on Sunday are below.
