Troy (11-5, 6-1) is coming off of a 91-87 win over Appalachian State on Monday that marked the Trojan' sixth straight win. The six-game winning streak matches the highest in Troy's Division I era (1993-present). The 6-1 start to Sun Belt play is Troy's best start since its lone NCAA Tournament team started Mid-Continent play 8-1 in 1996-97.
Ashley Beverly-Kelley led the Trojans with a career-high 34 points against Appalachian State. The junior, who scored her 1,000th career point in the first half, went 11-of-18 from the field and 11-of-16 from the free throw line. Troy's leading scorer now ranks fourth in the Sun Belt in scoring at 15.5 points per game
Ronita Garrett missed her fourth straight double-double against App State, but still leads the Sun Belt and ranks 12th in the NCAA with 10 on the season. The senior is averaging 13.5 points and 10.2 rebounds per game, ranking ninth and second in the Sun Belt, respectively.
Troy has scored 80-plus points in each of its last four games and is now leading the Sun Belt in scoring at 75.8 points per game. The Trojans also lead the league in rebounding (43.3), assists (14.8) and steals (11.4). Troy is averaging 79.3 points per game in Sun Belt play.
UALR (14-2, 7-0) comes in on an eight-game winning streak, including an undefeated start to Sun Belt play. UALR ranks third in the nation and first in the Sun Belt in scoring defense, allowing just 50.4 points per game. In Sun Belt play, UALR is giving up just 43.0 per game and has won all seven of its games by at least 20 points.
UALR is 6-1 at the Jack Stephens Center this season, including a win over Oklahoma. UALR also has a road win over LSU on its résumé.
UALR leads the all-time series over Troy, 13-1, and has eliminated Troy from the Sun Belt Championships each of the last two years. Troy's lone win came at home last season. Thursday's game will mark the seventh straight between the two as the Sun Belt's top offense and defense.
