TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's tennis team won its third straight match, and its fifth in the last six, with a 7-0 win over Alabama State on Friday at the Lunsford Tennis Conplex.
Troy (8-6) saw Hannah Toro play for the first time this spring as she and Margot De Haan won at No. 3 doubles, 8-2, to clinch the opening point for the Trojans. Anja Cosovic and Trang Huynh won their ninth straight doubles match at No. 1, 8-1.
Alabama State (6-10) won just one set in the match, but Monica Gonzalez for Troy rebounded and won the No. 5 singles match, 1-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-3). All five of the remaining singles matches were won by the Trojans in straight sets.
The Trojans return to the court on Sunday when they travel to take on Middle Tennessee. Troy will return home on Tuesday when it hosts Florida A&M in a match that will mark Senior Day for the Trojans. That match will begin at 2 p.m. at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
