Men’s Tennis Falls to Miami, 5-2

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Troy men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 match at No. 65 Miami on Wednesday. The match was the Trojans fifth against a ranked team this season.

Troy (2-11) was coming off of a streak-snapping win at Florida Atlantic on Monday, but Miami (8-4) took control early, sweeping the doubles point.

The Hurricanes went up 3-0 with wins at No. 3 and No. 1 singles before Troy got its first win of the day. Mansingh Athare, playing at No. 6 singles, cruised to a 6-4, 6-2 win over Miami's Bernard Tefel.

Miami clinched the match with a win at No. 2 singles before Troy's Daniel Bustamante got a win at No. 4 for the Trojans, 6-4, 7-6 (2), over Wilfredo Gonzalez.

The Trojans return to the court on Saturday when they host Xavier at the Lunsford Tennis Complex at 1 p.m.
