Trojans Drop Another Close Match

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Troy men's tennis team dropped yet another close match on Friday, falling at Southern Miss, 4-2.

Troy (1-7) opened the match with a doubles point win thanks to wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Seniors Mansingh Athare and Sami Ghorbel clinch the opening point with an 8-7 win at No. 1.

Ghorbel put the Trojans up 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles.

However, Southern Miss (6-5) won four matches at the bottom of the lineup, winning matches No. 3 through No. 6. Two of the four losses came in three sets. Troy's Gabriel Sciacca Dias was in a third set at No.1 singles when the match was clinched.

The Trojans return to the court on Saturday when they take on Lamar in Hattiesburg.
