TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's basketball team has a quick turnaround after Thursday night's game as UL Lafayette gets set to visit Trojan Arena on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 5:15 p.m. in what is the first half of a doubleheader with the Troy men's team.
Live stats, live video and a FREE live audio broadcast will be available through TroyTrojans.com. Fans in the Troy area can also hear the broadcast on WTBF 94.7 FM. Follow @TroyWomensBBall on Twitter for live, in-game updates.
Troy (4-12, 0-5) is coming off of a loss to UL Monroe on Thursday at home, 83-72. The Warhawks shot 54 percent in the first half to build a 15-point lead at the break. Troy held ULM without a field goal for the final 6:44, but couldn't get any closer than nine points as ULM closed out the game at the free throw line.
The loss was the eighth straight for the Trojans, with six of those eight coming on the road. Last season when UL Lafayette visited Trojan Arena, Troy snapped a 10-game losing streak with a 68-61 win over the Ragin' Cajuns.
Just like last season, the losing streak has come at the start of Sun Belt play as Troy remains one of two teams yet to win a league game (UT Arlington). However, Troy still leads the conference in scoring at 79.4 points per game. The Trojans also lead the Sun Belt in rebounding (43.6), steals (10.8) and blocks (4.8).
Offensively, Joanna Harden continues to pace the Trojans after a 32-point effort against UL Monroe on Thursday night. Harden is now fifth in the nation in scoring at 24.6 points per game. The senior is still the Sun Belt leader in scoring.
UL Lafayette (10-5, 3-1) has already matched its overall and conference win totals from last season thanks to two straight wins entering Saturday's contest. The Ragin' Cajuns defeated South Alabama on Wednesday, 65-60, thanks to 30 South Alabama turnovers.
The Ragin' Cajuns force a Sun Belt best 23.5 turnovers per game and have a league best +6.06 turnover ratio. The Ragin' Cajuns have done so in the last two games without Keke Veal, the Sun Belt's leader in steals at 3.1 per game.
Troy is 6-6 all-time against UL Lafayette, including a 5-1 mark at home. The two split last season's meetings with each home team winning.
