ATLANTA – The Troy men's tennis team closes its regular season on Saturday as the Trojans travel to take on Georgia State at 12 p.m. in a Sun Belt match.
Troy (8-15) will be looking to snap a three-match losing streak after a loss to Florida A&M on Senior Day on Tuesday. Troy is 0-3 in Sun Belt matches this season with two losses to South Alabama and one to Florida Atlantic.
The Trojans are led by Sami Ghorbel who has posted a 13-7 mark in singles play this season. Troy's No.1 singles player, Anas Rouchdi, is 9-11 in singles play this season.
Troy will face a tough Georgia State (11-10) that is coming off of two straight losses, both to ranked opponents. The Panthers featured Victor Valente, the 76th-ranked player in the country in singles.
Valente is also ranked in doubles play with his partner Lucas Santa Ana as the duo comes into the match ranked 44th in the nation.
Following Saturday's match, both teams look to the Sun Belt Championships, which begin on Thursday in Lafayette, La. Official tournament seedings are expected to be released on Monday.
