Trojans Take Streak into Sun Belt Matches

LAFAYETTE, La. – The Troy women's tennis team takes an eight-match winning streak into a pair of Sun Belt matches on the road this weekend. Troy will face South Alabama on Friday and Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday, both in Lafayette, La., at Cajun Courts.
Troy and South Alabama will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday while the Trojans and Cajuns will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Troy (12-4) has had 15 days since its last match, a 4-2 win over Lamar on March 14 on a neutral court. The Trojans have not loss in almost six weeks, with their last loss coming on February 17 in a 4-3 decision at UAB.
The Trojans currently have the second best winning percentage in the Sun Belt, behind only ULM (10-2). After the two matches this weekend, Troy will have just four remaining before returning to Lafayette, La., for the Sun Belt Championships on April 18.
Troy is led at the top of its singles lineup by senior Karoline Grymel who has won six straight matches. Candela Munoz Giron, a sophomore, has also won six straight matches, mostly at fourth singles.
Freshman Anja Cosovic has the top singles record in dual matches, posting a 12-4 mark this spring, playing lately out of the third singles slot.
In doubles play, Troy is 26-12 (.684) as a team this season in dual matches, including an 18-1 mark over its current eight-match winning streak.
South Alabama (12-6) is coming off of a 4-3 win over Middle Tennessee last Sunday. Louisiana-Lafayette (11-8) is coming off of a 5-2 win over Samford 10 days ago. Troy is 4-0 in neutral court matches this season and 4-4 in road matches.
