FT. WALTON BEACH, Fla. – Both the Troy men's and women's tennis teams will travel to take on Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday at the Ft. Walton Beach Tennis Center. The women's match will begin at 8 a.m. with the men's match to follow.
The Troy women (10-4) enter Tuesday's match as winners of six straight, including a 6-1 decision over New Orleans on Sunday. Troy last lost in mid-February in a 4-3 decision at UAB.
The Trojans will face a tough test in EKU (7-4), the reigning Ohio Valley Conference Champions. EKU has won two straight coming into Tuesday, although both victories were against non-Division I opponents. EKU represented the OVC in last year's NCAA Tournament.
The Troy men (6-6) also come in on a roll, having won five straight matches, including a 5-2 win over New Orleans on Sunday. The Trojans started the season 1-6, but have since turned things around and now sit at .500.
The Trojan men will also face EKU (5-9), the reigning OVC Champion on the men's side as well. However, the Colonels come in on a three-match losing streak. EKU represented the OVC in last year's NCAA Tournament.
For the Troy men, Tuesday's match is their last before taking part in the prestigious Blue Gray Tennis Classic, beginning on Friday in Montgomery, Ala., at the Lagoon Park Tennis Center and the O'Connor Tennis Center. The eight-team men's draw for the tournament features five ranked squad's that include Nebraska, Notre Dame, Texas Tech and more.
