Trojans Drop New Orleans at Home

TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's tennis team ran its winning streak to six matches with a 5-2 win over New Orleans at the Lunsford Tennis Complex on Sunday.

Troy (6-6) has now pushed its season record to .500 after starting the season 1-6. The Trojans are now 3-1 on the season at home, and got there by opening the match on a good note with a doubles point win.

The Trojans' first pair of Mansingh Athare and Sami Ghorbel dominated their match, winning 8-2 to open up the match. Troy also won at second doubles to clinch the opening point.

The Trojans got two easy wins from Anas Rouchdi, 6-1, 6-3, and Ghorbel, 6-1, 6-2, at first and third doubles. New Orleans (5-5) won at second and fifth singles to get their two points.

However, Troy got a tough 6-4, 7-6 win from Andre Stabile at sixth singles and a three-set win from Daniel Bustamante at fourth singles, 6-7, 6-1, 6-2 to give Troy the 5-2 win.

The Trojans return to the court on Tuesday when they travel to Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., for a neutral court match against Eastern Kentucky.
