AUBURN, Ala. – The Troy women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision at No.60 Auburn on Wednesday at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.

Due to the recent rain, Troy (3-3) came into the match without having practiced since a Sunday win over Furman in Orlando, Fla.

“Auburn kicked us pretty good tonight,” Troy head coach Eric Hayes said. “It would have been nice to have been able to practice the last few days and give them a better match.

“We are fine, we've just got to get back on the practice court tomorrow.”

Auburn (6-1) came into Wednesday night's match after a 7-0 win over Alabama State earlier in the day.

The 60th-ranked Tigers won at first and third doubles to clinch the opening point, then Troy was forced to withdraw in a 4-4 match at second doubles due to injury.

Troy's highlight singles match came at third singles where Troy's Lyubov Dorofeeva nearly knocked of Jackie Kasler, the 10th-ranked player in the Southern Region. Dorofeeva won the first set, but fell in the match, 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-7).

Auburn won at second singles where Hannah Toro was forced to retire due to injury and also won the remaining singles matches in straight sets.

Troy will have a quick turnaround again as the Trojans return to the court on Saturday when they host Samford at the Lunsford Tennis Complex at 12 p.m.
