Troy Soccer Travels to UALR for Sunday Match

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Troy soccer team begins a three-match road swing on Sunday and travels to Little Rock to face UALR at 1 p.m. at the Coleman Sports and Recreation Complex.

Troy (5-7-0, 1-1-0) earned its first Sun Belt win of the year by shutting out Arkansas State 1-0 on Thursday at the Troy Soccer Complex. Necee Jennings' goal in the 38^th minute proved to be the game-winner and Madison Winter held the Red Wolves in check by posting her second shutout of the season.

The victory marked the Trojans' first win over the Red Wolves since 2008, snapping a four-match losing skid to Arkansas State.

Jennings leads Troy with six goals and also is the team leader with three game-winning goals. The Powder Springs, Ga., native leads the Trojans with 12 points and has scored goals in three out of the last five matches.

Five Trojans enter Sunday's match tied for the team with three assists. In Thursday's match against Arkansas State, senior Cecilia Thorngren picked up her 13^th career assist moving into third place all-time in school history. Thorngren needs just one more assist to move in to a tie for first place in Troy history with former Trojans Maite Goicoechea (1998-00) and Tara Petrucci (2001-04).

UALR (3-8-0, 0-2-0) dropped 1-0 contest versus South Alabama on Friday night in Little Rock. The Trojans have lost both conference matches and are led enter Sunday's match with a five-game losing streak.

Paige Mason leads UALR with four goals this season, while Kayla Turner and Allison Rohane have scored a pair of goals apiece, respectively.

Last season, Troy knocked off UALR 4-0 at the Troy Soccer Complex behind a pair of goals from Chelsey Williams, while Louise Cheng and Maddie Tieken added a goal in the win.
