TROY, Ala. – After two straight weeks of competition in Tennessee and Mississippi, the Troy rodeo teams will look to end the season on a high note this Thursday, April 26 through April 28 at the NWMCC Rodeo in Centerton, Ark.
The men's team heads into the weekend in sixth place with 2,120 points, while the women sit fourth with 1,430 points.
Freshman Nelson Wyatt sits sixth in tie down roping with 305 points, while Cody Skelton sits 12th with 250. Although the two sit outside the top five, the deficit can easily be made up with one good performance. Wyatt is also in the top-15 in the steer wrestling event with 165 points.
Lane Taylor leads the Trojans in the heading portion of the team roping event, having been paired with Nelson Wyatt as the heeler most of the season. Taylor sits fourth with 350 points, and Jacob Locke sits 13th with 170.
In the heeling portion of the team roping event, Wyatt sits fourth, match his teammate Taylor. Wyatt has accumulated 350 points to this point, and Zack Mabry sits sixth with 330.
Brittany Drawdy leads the Trojans in the barrel racing event with 330 points and a sixth place standing, just 70 behind fourth place Rayann Fuller of Southern Arkansas. Josey Owens enters the weekend in 12th with 225 points and Kaley Dixon sits 15th with 120.
Whitney Hazouri and Cassidy Aldridge have both been the highlight in the breakaway roping event thus far this season. Hazouri enters in sixth with 290 points, and Cassidy Aldridge enters in ninth with 225.
Three Trojans are featured in the top-15 in the goat tying event including Kassandra Smith, Whitney Hazouri and Lanie Culligan. Smith enters with the highest ranking in fifth with 415 points. Hazouri sits 12th with 135, and Culligan is 15th with 110.
The Trojan Spurs will look to have a successful weekend as some individuals look forward to making the College National Finals Rodeo in June.
