Troy Women’s Rodeo Finishes 18th at National Finals

CASPER, Wyo. – The Troy women's rodeo team finished in 18th place at the College National Finals Rodeo this past weekend at the Casper Events Center.
Kelsey Kennemer scored all 90 of Troy's points and finished fifth in the women's all-around competition. She teamed with Seth Driggers from Southern Arkansas to finish fifth in team roping. The duo put together times of 7.9, 12.2, 8.6 and 8.1 seconds en route to earning 70 points.
She finished in 27th place in barrel racing with runs of 15.12, 14.67, and 14.21 seconds. Kennemer earned her other 20 points in breakaway roping where she finished in 15th place after runs of 2.8 and 2.7 seconds.
Kassandra Smith and Kesia Smith both competed in goat tying and finished in 22nd place and 40th place, respectively.
John Pitts was the lone Trojan from the men's team to compete at the College National Rodeo Finals and he finished in seventh place in a field of 37 competitors in bull riding. Pitts scored on two of his four runs, including a solid 82.5 in his final go. He finished with a 158.5 average and earned 80 points.
The College National Rodeo Finals was the final competition for the Troy men's and women's rodeo teams as it was announced on March 5 that both programs would be discontinued at the end of the 2013-14 season.
