SCOOBA, Miss. – The women's rodeo team won its fourth team title of the season with a dominating performance at the East Mississippi Community College Rodeo this past weekend, while the men's team finished in 11th place.
The Trojan women scored 440 points as a team to beat out second-place Tennessee-Martin (290) and third-place Southern Arkansas (285).
The bulk of the women's points came in goat tying where Kassandra Smith, Morgan Sellars and Lanie Culligan all scored for the Trojans. Smith finished in third place with 105 points after runs of 9.3 and 10.5 seconds, while Sellars placed fifth with 50 points and Sellars added 30 points.
Kennemer turned in a second-place performance in barrel racing after posting the best time in the second run with a mark of 15.28 seconds; her average time of 31.02 pushed her event total to 110 points. Sellars also had solid runs as she turned in the second best time during the first run and finished with 80 points.
Kennemer teamed up with men's rider John Pitts in the team roping competition and the pair turned in an average time of 22.8 seconds to score 20 points. Kennemer scored 40 points in breakaway roping following times of 3.4 and 4.9 seconds, while Pitts added 15 points to the men's tally with his performance in bull riding.
