Troy Tennis Teams Sweep at Home

TROY, Ala – Both the Troy men's and women's teams picked up victories over Austin Peay at home on Tuesday afternoon, as each squad defeated the Governors, 5-2.
For the women, the victory is the third straight for the Trojans (3-4) who had to fight back from losing the doubles point. The Trojans did just that as they dominated singles play with five wins in six matches to pick up the 5-2 win.
On the men's side, the win snapped a three-match losing streak for the Trojans (2-7). Troy rolled through the doubles point, but allowed Austin Peay to win two of the first three singles matches, tying the score at 2-2. However, Troy picked up wins in the remaining three matches to take the 5-2 decision.
Both squads now travel to Jacksonville, Fla., for weekend action. The men will kick things off with a neutral court match against Eastern Kentucky on Thursday. Both the men and women will then play at North Florida on Saturday and Jacksonville on Sunday.

Women's – Troy 5, Austin Peay 2
The Trojans came out strong in doubles play with the number three team of Rosaura Ramirez- Vega and Olfa Dhaoui quickly defeating the Governors team of Vanessa Tavares and Weronika Kurka, 8-1.
However, Austin Peay's number two team kept the Trojans from a quick victory as Ornella Di Salvo and Andra Cornea defeated Troy's Candela Munoz Giron and Samya El Hsissen, 8-5.
With the doubles point still up for grabs, the number one slot battled it out for the victory, with the Trojans coming up short as the Governors' Vanja Tomic and Alison Carre defeated Karoline Grymel and Lyubov Dorofeeva 8-9 (8-6), sealing the doubles point for Austin Peay.
In singles play, the Trojans came back from losing the doubles point with three straight victories.
At number six singles, Troy's Ramirez-Vega defeated Kurak 6-2, 6-0, while the number five slot of El Hsissen defeated Austin Peay's Tavares, 6-1, 6-4.
Next off the court was the number four slot where Troy's Munoz Giron defeated Cornea 6-1, 6-2. However, the Governors continued to fight for an overall victory.
At number singles, the Governors stayed alive as Tomic defeated Troy's Grymel, 6-3, 6-2, to pull the Lady Govs within one at 3-2.
However, the Trojans clinched the remaining points and the match at number three and number two singles. First, at number three, Troy's Dhaoui fought a tough match, defeating Carre 6-3, 5-7, 6-1, to give Troy the clinching fourth point.
Dorofeeva took the final singles match at number two singles for the Trojans.

Men's – Troy 5, Austin Peay 2
The Trojans came out strong at home after being on the road for two weeks and swiftly clinched the doubles point. The number one team of Mansingh Athare and Sami Ghorbel were the first off the court defeating Austin Peay's Sean Bailey and Dimitar Ristovski, 8-4.
The Governors continued to fight for the doubles point and evened the score by winning at Number two doubles. However, Troy's number three team of Patrick Eichler and Anas Rouchdi clinched the point for the Trojans with an 8-3 victory over Aleksas Tverijonas and Iago Seffrin.
In Singles play, the Trojans battled for the three remaining points needed to win the match for Troy.
Troy's number one singles player, Rouchdi, gave the Trojans an early lead with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Ademovic. However, the Governors tied the match, 2-2, with victories at number three and number two singles.
The Trojans quickly swept the remaining points of the match beginning with the number four slot where Patrick Eichler defeated Hrciste 1-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Next off the court was Troy's Tadju Davies, whose victory over Storie 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 sealed the match for the Trojans. With the victory clinched, Troy's Andres Sanchez added another point for the Trojans defeating Seffrin 5-7, 7-5, 6-4.
The Trojans will travel to Jacksonville, Fla., on Thursday where they will take on Eastern Kentucky in a neutral court match. The Trojans will then visit North Florida on Saturday and Jacksonville on Sunday.
