Trojans Drop Pair at North Florida

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Both the Troy men's and women's tennis teams dropped matches on the road at North Florida on Saturday. The Trojans were shutout, 7-0, in each match.

The Trojans will look to rebound on Sunday as each team takes on Jacksonville beginning with the women's match at 9:00 a.m.

Women's – North Florida 7, Troy 0

The Trojans (3-5) saw their three-match winning streak come to an end on the road at North Florida on Saturday.

Troy's number one doubles team of Lyubov Dorofeeva and Karoline Grymel picked up a win in a tiebreaker, 8-7 (7-6), but the Trojans were unable to come away with a win at either of the other two doubles spots as they dropped the initial point.

The Trojans fell to the Ospreys (4-3) in straight sets in five of the six singles matches, with Grymel forcing a third set a number one singles. After easily taking the first set, Grymel was unable to break through in the next two as UNF secure the shutout with a win, 1-6, 6-0, 6-2.

Men's – North Florida 7, Troy 0

Just like in the women's match, the Trojans (2-9) played a very tight double point. In fact, Troy led late in all three matches, with a 7-4 lead at number one, 7-5 lead at number two and 6-4 lead at number three.

However, the Ospreys (7-4) fought back to take all three. UNF defeated Troy's Mansingh Athare and Sami Ghorbel at number one, 9-7. They then took out Tommy Cundy and Jamie Eccleton at number two, 9-8 (7-2).

North Florida as completed the comeback at number three over Troy's Anas Rouchdi and Patrick Ecihler, 8-6.

Also like the women's match, the Trojans fell in straight sets in five of six singles matches, with the lone three-set match coming at number one singles.

Ghorbel, playing his first match of the season at number one singles, took the first set but ultimately fell, 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-6).
