TROY, Ala. – After a successful start to the 2012 season last month at Missouri Valley College, the Troy rodeo team will look to build on that success Thursday as they travel to Murray, Ky. to compete in the Murray State University Rodeo.
The women's team is coming off a 353 point win in Missouri over second place Southern Arkansas. Kassandra Smith (header) and Kesia Smith (heeler) enter the weekend in sixth place in team roping with 30 points each.
Anna Niewoehner enters with a third place standing in barrel racing after totaling 60 points in the first event of the year. She also sits seventh in breakaway roping with 30 points.
Kelsey Kennemer joins Niewoehner in breakaway with a third place standing with 30 points thus far.
Kassandra Smith's 120 total points in goat tying place her third in the event heading into the weekend.
Zack Mabry (heeler) is featured as the only men's member in the top of any event standings, sitting in third place in team roping.
The 353 points put up by the women last week give them a 48-point advantage heading into Thursday's action.
The men sit tenth in the Ozark Region with 90 total points.
