Troy Rodeo Prepared for In-State Competition

Ozark Region Standings
TROY, Ala. – After just a few short days of rest following action at Murray State University, the Troy rodeo teams will look to continue its success in the Ozark Region this weekend as they travel to Livingston, Ala. to take part in the University of West Alabama Showdown.
The men enter the event in ninth with 300 points, but one rodeo can change that as they sit only 170 points behind the third place team.
The women, after claiming the team championship in the season-opener at Missouri Valley, sit second, just 27 points behind Southern Arkansas.
Albert McBride's success from Murray State shot him up in the standings, sitting seventh in steer wrestling with 80 points.
In team roping, the duo of Kassandra and Kesia Smith has been the consistent team, with Kassandra doing the heading and Kesia handling the heeling duties. Both of the Smith's enter the weekend in eighth place with 50 points.
Zack Mabry, who has been paired with Tennessee-Martin's Ben Walker thus far in the season, sits second in the heeling portion with 220 total points.
Barrel racing has welcomed two Troy newcomers to the standings in Anna Niewoehner and Morgan Sellars. Both freshmen sit tied for tenth with 60 total points.
Three Trojans find themselves in the top-half of the standings in breakaway roping. Kelsey Kennemer enters the event in sixth with 83.3 points, while Kassandra Smith sits tied for ninth with 50 and Niewoehner enters tied for 14th with 30 points.
After a hot start to the season in goat tying, Kassandra Smith holds the lead in the event with 250 points, while Lanie Culligan sits fifth with 95.
Action will begin at the Don C. Hines Rodeo Complex on the University of West Alabama campus Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
