The Troy soccer team will look to continue progress in Murray, Ky.
TROY, Ala. – The Trojan soccer team prepare to head to Murray State for their second match of the season.
The Trojans (1-0) enter the meeting with the Racers (0-2) off of a decisive victory to Alabama State, in which Troy defeated the hornets 5-0. Despite the satisfying win the Trojans game plan will remain focusing on the task at hand.
“We have been training well and keeping focus on the next game,” said head coach Chris Bentley. “It was great kicking off the season with a win, but we have a lot of work to do and this week has been very productive.”
The Trojans will look to build on the success of the win as they continue to strengthen the game experience for many of the newcomers to the Trojan squad in the non-conference play.
“We will get to try some more things out this week against a good
Opponent,” said Bentley. “We will also get a couple more players on the field we haven't seen yet this season.”
Murray State will enter the match coming off two losses to Ball State and Western Carolina. This will be the Trojans first meeting with Murray State with Coach Chris Bentley at the helm. However the Trojans have yet to beat the Racers as they are 0-2 all time with Murray State as of the last meeting in 2001.
“It will be a new challenge,” Bentley said. “From what we have gathered they should be a strong test, which is great for this time of the year.”
The Trojans will hit the pitch with the Racers Thursday at 1 pm in Murray, Kentucky.
