Troy suffers heartbreaker at Murray State as they fall 1-0.
Murray, Ky. – The Trojan soccer team fell in their first loss to Murray State. The loss came as heartbreaking 1-0 defeat in the Trojans first ever loss to the Racers.
“Murray state outclassed us in everything today,” said head coach Chris Bentley. “Our effort was poor and we got what we deserved.”
The Trojans (1-1) defended an aggressive Murray State (1-2) attack, which recorded 13 shots in the first half. However Troy's defensive efforts fell short in the 53' as junior Veronika Pribyslavska netted the virtual game winning goal.
The Trojans are now tasked with regrouping from the loss and focusing on their next match with Louisiana Tech. The Trojans will have only three days to prepare for the Bulldogs.
“We have a lot of work and soul-searching to do after this one,” Bentley said.
The Trojans will meet the Bulldogs on the pitch in Ruston, La. Sunday at 1:00 pm.
