TROY blanks UALR on the road Saturday afternoon

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (TroyTrojans.com) – The Troy University women's tennis team ran their winning streak to three, winning all contests on the road, as they defeated the Trojans of UALR 7-0 Saturday afternoon at the Rebsamen Tennis Center.

TROY (8-12) handed UALR their fourth consecutive defeat after winning eight consecutive matches entering mid-March.

The Trojans started the day off quickly, winning two out of three doubles matches to claim the doubles point over UALR. The number three team of Olfa Dhaoui and Gabriella Veiga defeated UALR's Nathalia Garay and Rachel Pierce, 8-2; while the number one team of Karoline Grymel and Leonie Guijt kept their winning streak going with an 8-3 victory over Yana Kakovkina and Viktoriya Plutya.

The only victory for UALR (10-10) came at number two doubles where Rebec Van Den Houte and Veronique Lukisch defeated Lyubov Dorafeeva and Rosaura Ramirez-Vega 8-7.

In singles play, Karoline Grymel and Leonie Guijt led the charge as they each continued their winning streak over the last week. Grymel defeated Veornique Lukisch 6-3, 2-6, 10-7 at number one singles; while Guijt claimed a victory over Viktoriya Plutya when she retired trailing after the first set.

Other victories for the Trojans at the top of the lineup came when Olfa Dhaoui defeated Yana Kakovkina 6-3, 6-2 at number two; while Lyubov Dorafeeva defeated Rebec Van Den Houte 6-0, 6-0. The Trojans also won at number five when Rosaura Ramirez-Vega won her second consecutive match, defeating Nathalia Garay 6-2, 6-0; while Gabriella Veiga claimed a 6-2, 6-0 victory over UALR's Andrea Steen-Rosten at number six singles.

The Trojans travel to Birmingham next Saturday afternoon to face UAB in non-conference action.
