Trojans Sweep in Ft. Myers

TROY sweeps SIU-Edwardsville and Lehigh, dropping just one set in the process

FT. MYERS, Fla. – The Troy University women's tennis team ventured away from home during Spring Break and came away with two victories on their opening day of the trip.
The Trojans defeated SIU-Edwardsville 7-0, and completed the sweep against Lehigh in a different manner as they won 5-0.
Against SIU-Edwardsville, the Trojans earned the doubles point with a sweep of SIU-Edwardsville. The number one team of Karoline Grymel and Leonie Guijt defeated SIU-Edwardsville Carli Conners and Joanna Corkern 8-3; while the team of Olfa Dhaoui and Rosaura Ramirez-Vega defeated SIU-Edwardsville 8-6.
Meanwhile, the Trojans earned the sweep with an 8-3 victory at number three where the team of Lyubov Dorafeeva and Olivia Battye defeated SIU-Edwardsville's Ali Wulfers and Laura Horning.
In singles play, the Trojans dropped just one set throughout the day and that was at number six where freshman Olivia Battye defeated Amanda Miller of SIU-Edwardsville 6-0, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6). Meanwhile, Karoline Grymel won at number one over Carli Conners 6-0, 6-0; and Olfa Dhaoui defeated Magie Boeckman 6-1, 6-2 at number two.
At number three singles, Leonie Guijt defeated Laura Horning 6-2, 6-0; while Lyubov Dorafeeva defeated Joanna Corkern 6-0, 6-1 at number four to set up the sweep. The sweep became complete when Rosaura Ramirez-Vega recorded a 6-0, 6-3 victory over SIU-Edwardsville's Rachel Webb 6-0, 6-3.
Meanwhile, in the afternoon match, the Trojans and Lehigh played a different format as they played four singles and just one doubles match.
In the doubles match, the team of Lyubov Dorafeeva and Gabriella Veiga recorded a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Lehigh's Liz Pistitelli and Abby Perl for a quick 1-0 overall lead.
Karoline Grymel stayed hot at number one as she went all day without dropping a game, defeating Lehigh's Taylor Hampshire 6-0, 6-0; while at number two Olfa Dhaoui defeated Lehigh's Janai Bilimoria 6-3, 6-1.
At number three singles, Leonie Guijt defeated Trish Muething 6-0, 6-0; while Rosaura Ramirez-Vega completed the sweep with a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Lehigh's Kathleen Larkin 6-0, 6-4.
