Georgia State Upends Trojan Women

The Trojans return to action against Tulane at home on Sunday

TROY, Ala. – The Troy University women's tennis team returned home Friday afternoon, but fell in their third match against a nationally-ranked opponent as they fell to 70th-ranked Georgia State 6-1 at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
Troy (2-6) started off quickly as they won the doubles point, led by their top doubles team of Leonie Guijt and Karoline Grymel. The duo upset Georgia State's number one team of Kir Kemp and Tereza Lerova (ranked 40th in the country), 9-7 to clinch the doubles point for the Trojans.
That match was made possible when the team freshman duo of Lyubov Dorafeeva and Olivia Battye defeated Georgia State's Katerina Gresova and Othilia Lindqvist 8-6. The number two team of Olfa Dhaoui and Rosaura Ramirez-Vega defeated Georgia State's Abigail Tere-Apisah and Maryna Kozachenko, 9-8 (7-5).
Meanwhile in singles play, Georgia State sealed the team victory by winning all six matches, starting with a win by Othilia Lindqvist at number six over Olivia Battye 6-3, 6-1; followed by a win by Abigail Tere-Apisah over Troy's Olfa Dhaoui at number two 6-2, 6-2.
The Panthers won again at number three when Katerina Gresova defeated the Trojans' Leonie Guijt 6-4, 6-3; while at number one, Karoline Grymel fell to Tereza Lerova 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 to clinch the match.
Maryna Kozachenko and Kir Kemp won their matches for Georgia State after the match was clinched in singles play.
The Trojans return to action Sunday against Tulane at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
