Trojan men open home slate against South Alabama
TROY, Ala. – A busy week for the Troy University tennis programs start Wednesday afternoon as the men open their home slate against the University of South Alabama. The match begins at 2:30 pm at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
Troy (1-8) hits the home court after opening the season with nine consecutive road matches, and seven of those matches consisting of playing nationally-ranked opponents. They are coming off a road split in which they defeated Stetson, and lost a heartbreaking match to Central Florida last week.
For the first time this season, the Trojans are unranked as they have played the toughest schedule of anyone in the country. Winless through the first seven matches, the Trojans were still ranked in the ITA Top 75.
The Trojans return to the court Friday when they host Tennessee Tech to close their modest two-match home stand.
That same Friday, the Trojan women hit the court to face Georgia State in their third home match of the season, as they face the Panthers at 2:30 pm at the Lunsford Tennis Complex. The women are coming off of a heartbreaking 4-3 loss to Mississippi State University last week in which they had a chance to win the match in the last singles match.
The women will close out the week when they face Conference USA power, Tulane, Sunday morning at the Lunsford Tennis Complex. That match begins at 10 am.
