Trojans Fall to Gamecocks

Troy women's basketball fell to Jacksonville State in their fourth straight road game on Sunday.

Jacksonville, Ala. – Troy (0-8, 0-0) women's basketball fell to their instate rival, the Jacksonville State Gamecocks (3-6, 0-0) 65-54 on Sunday. The loss comes as the Trojans fourth straight loss on the road.
Despite the loss the Trojans continue to show improvement. Troy's defense picked up 11 total steals against the Gamecocks with three going to Senior DeAngela Sword.
Sword also continued to lead her team in scoring as she picked 18 total points, the most she's recorded all season. Sword has continued her streak of recording double digits in scoring now in eight straight games.
Troy also lead JSU in fast break points, with eight total, and points off of turnovers, with 17 total. However, the Trojans were unable to keep up with the high shooting percentage of Jacksonville State. The Gamecocks recorded 32 total points in the paint and were 5 of 10 from behind the ark.
The Trojans now get a full week off to recover and prepare for their next contest when they host American University at home in Sartain Hall next Sunday. Tipoff is set for 1 pm.
