Troy Rodeo Points Update
11/21/2011 8:29:00 PM | Rodeo
After this past weekend's Trojan Stampede, the Troy rodeo team now has a two month break before returning to rodeo action.
The points gained throughout this year will carry over into the spring season to add to the season totals. Before this past weekend's rodeo, the men's team was in fourth place in the 10 team Ozark Region, while the women's team was in second in the eight team region. After completion of the Trojan Stampede, those standings have changed, as well as some individual points categories.
Brittney Drawdy moved from third to fifth in Barrel Racing after this past weekend. Whitney Hazouri retained her number one spot in Breakaway Roping, even though she didn't make it back to the short-go in the Trojan Stampede.
At this past weekend's rodeo, the men's team finished fifth in total points and the women's placed in second. The men dropped from fourth to fifth in the Ozark Region and the women still hold the second place spot behind Southern Arkansas University.
When scores were released Saturday night, the points for the all-around championships weren't available. After scores were posted to the national website, those points were made available and showed that one of Troy's own claimed the women's all-around points' championship. Kassandra Smith claimed the team's second all-around championship of the year after she posted a total of 145 points.
The Trojan Spurs now have a break to look forward to before picking back up with rodeo action in February at Cossatot Community College.
