Ozark Region Standings
The Troy Rodeo team will make their final road trip of the fall season this Thursday when they travel to Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Ark.
The women's team is clinging to a 45 point lead in the Ozark Region, while the host school Southern Arkansas sits in second place. The school from Magnolia posted individual victories in the Barrel Racing, Breakaway Roping and Goat Tying events, thus putting them in the top three in points in each individual event.
For the Trojans, Whitney Hazouri started the season out to lead the women's team. She won the all around category at Missouri Valley College and also claimed a victory in Goat Tying, while teammate Cassidy Aldridge claimed her individual victory in Breakaway Roping at the University of West Alabama. According to Coach Josh Simmons, the women will have to get to work this weekend if they want to maintain their points lead.
The men's team has had their share of success this season. Southern Arkansas doesn't seem to be as much of a threat to the men's team as they are to the women's, as they sit in seventh place, 530 points below the Trojans who sit in fifth place in the region. Zach Mabry and Jacob Locke claimed their individual victories early in the season at Missouri Valley College in the Team Roping event. Troy's only attempt in Bull Riding this season came at the University of West Alabama when Justin Walker placed second, giving the Trojans a valuable 131 individual points to add to the season total.
Troy hopes to claim more individual victories this weekend, as well as gain points to help increase their standings in the Ozark Region. Rodeo action will begin Thursday night and continue through Saturday.
