Trojan Track Team Gets Early Experience at the Ed Temple Classic

The Troy track team traveled to Nashville for their season opener.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Troy University track team began the 2011 season on the right foot on Saturday after competing at the Ed Temple Classic hosted by Tennessee State.
The young Trojan squad showed a strong look even after coming off a holiday break.
“We are very excited about the effort the ladies gave today,” said head coach Jill Lancaster. “Coming off a long six week holiday the team showed a solid start.”
The Trojans especially had success in the Distance Medley Relay as the Trojans' team of Agnes Kapsoiyo,
Catelyn Dake, Veronica Bryant and Sylvia Chirchir finished the relay in fourth place.
Chirchir also made her presence felt as she finished second in the 3000-meter run in second place.
The Trojans now look to build off of an early start as they prepare for the rest of their schedule.
“Now we have to evaluate film, tech, splits and move forward with training for the Sun Belt Conbference Championships,” said Lancaster.
The Trojans begin their conference schedule January 22 as they travel to Murfreesboro, Tennessee for the MT Blue Raider Invitational.
