The Trojans are looking for success to carry over from first two meets
TROY, Ala. - The Troy University track and field program heads north to their third indoor meet of the season, when they hit the road to Clemson to take part in the JRF Combined Events Invitational.
The season has gone well for the Trojan women at their first two events with the throwers impressive performance last week and the relay teams continuing last year's successes.
The JRF Invitational is hosting three top ranking teams in the host team Clemson which is ranked first in the Eastern Region and fifth nationally; Charlotte which is ranked ninth in the Eastern Region, and Auburn which is ranked 10th in the South Region and ninth nationally.
“The meet will provide one of the best venues we will have been in this season," Troy University Director of Track and Field/Cross Country, Jill Lancaster said. "It will also provide the most depth of competitors we have seen in either meet so far this season."
The other teams attending the Invitational are Benedict College, Anderson University, Coastal Carolina, South Carolina Upstate, Western Carolina, Kennesaw State, Limestone, Georgia Southern, Samford and Furman.
Clemson has been a site in which Troy's program has done well in the past and the coaching staff feels that the past will repeat itself this weekend.
“Several of our indoor school records come from this facility,” Lancaster said. "We expect the veterans to challenge in this type of competition. Many of the young athletes will need to stay focused and learn to use this type of competition to their advantage.”
